The Greenwich Boat & Yacht Club (www.gbyc.org) was organized in 1938 making it one of the oldest boat clubs in this Connecticut town. The club was founded to encourage the sports of Yachting & Boating and related activities, to make available facilities for its members to pursue such sports, and to suggest plans for the development of boating and harbor facilities in the Town of Greenwich. Membership is open to all interested residents of the town of Greenwich. The club now has approximately 285 members.
Clubhouse and Marina
The clubhouse is located on Grass Island overlooking Greenwich Harbor. It was built in 1955 with club funds at no cost to the Town, and is leased by the club from the Town. The club assumes all responsibilities on the property and the club. The marina, which berths a total of 65 boats, was completed in 1970 with funds raised by the club.
The club provides needed facilities to members and to community organizations. It is the sponsoring organization for the Greenwich High School Sailing team and the meeting location for the Greenwich Sail and Power Squadron.
